Marine Aluminium A/S Products

Marine Aluminium AS (MA) is one of the world’s leading companies within engineering, design and fabrication of aluminium structures and products for the offshore and shipbuilding industry.

MA has more than 60 years experience working with aluminium, with particular competence in the fields of material technology, extrusion tooling and welding techniques.

Helidecks

The use of aluminium ensures a substantial weight reduction. The aluminium alloy used for Marine Aluminium Helidecks has the strength of mild steel, but has one third of its weight, yielding weight reductions of 50% to 65% when compared to steel, thus making them particularly suited to marine, offshore and other weight sensitive structures.

The Helidecks are designed and built to meet each customer’s unique requirements. Aluminium helicopter decks offer substantial maintenance benefits over other materials. The aluminium Helidecks are corrosion resistant and have no moving parts, thus minimizing maintenance requirements. Lifecycle cost analyses show that the lifetime savings can be significant.

Handrail & Walkway Systems

Marine Aluminiums handrail system has been designed with care to meet NORSOK standards and give customers maximum benefits:

  • Weight Savings – Compared to steel handrail, weight savings can be approximately 45T on a typical rig or FPSO.
  • Cost Savings – The smart design of the MA handrail system reduces installation time. Due to its resistance to seawater the handrail does not require any painting, treatment or maintenance during its lifetime and no hot work is required to replace damaged or install new handrail offshore.
  • Flexibility – Various base sockets can be provided to suit your existing structure and to prevent any corrosion between steel and aluminium. Top rail, knee rails, kick plates, posts and gates are all part of the system and will adapt to your requirements.

Stair Towers

Marine Aluminium’s Stair Towers integrate their handrail and walkway system into the design to provide customers with a lightweight, yet robust stair tower.  Due to the system’s flexible design, MA is able to meet specific requirements and regulations and can deliver turnkey ready assembled stair towers or kits, where no aluminium welding is required.

As with all of MA’s aluminium products, there are significant weight savings over steel alternatives with the additional benefit of reduced maintenance costs.

Elevator Shafts

Marine Aluminium design and fabricate aluminium elevator shafts to meet customer’s requirements and regulations.  It is possible to design in elements suitable for shipping and ready for assembly at site.  The shafts are outfitted with friction stir welded panels giving a smooth finish and eliminating the need for joint grinding.  Access ladders, cable trays and lights can also be included in the design.

Marine Aluminium Elevator Shafts offer approximately 50% weight saving compared to steel. Benefits included:

  • Reduced weight
  • Easy installation
  • Low maintenance cost
  • No welding or grinding during installation
