The Maritime Standard held its 2025 Awards ceremony at the Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai on Wednesday October 29th in what was widely acclaimed to be its most successful event to date. With the renowned Sky News reporter, Yalda Hakim, as master of ceremonies, and well known local media personality, Rania Ali, as co-host, the Awards honoured outstanding companies and individuals from across shipping and maritime, presenting awards for 25 different categories, covering shipping, ports, logistics, ship repair, maritime law, education and training, insurance, marine technology and offshore services, as well as a series of special awards for individual achievement. Over 1100 senior executives and decision makers packed into the ballroom to witness a great spectacle, that this year had the theme of “Arabia”.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Makhtoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman of Emirates Airline and Group, the Awards celebrated their 12th year in style.
The keynote speech was given by Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, Chief Executive of ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S), who shared some valuable insights about the current maritime landscape and the region’s leadership in advancing sustainable and innovative practices across the sector. He said, “We are here tonight to honour the risk-takers, the problem-solvers, and also the quiet achievers. The people who, despite all the headwinds, continue to deliver the vital energy and goods that power economies, businesses, and societies around the globe.”
Captain Abdulkarem also expressed his gratitude The Maritime Standard Awards, their sponsors and partners, who, he said “continue to uphold the spirit of collaboration and progress and partnership that defines our industry. It is this partnership, this sense of shared purpose, that will allow us to rise to the challenges ahead.”
Clive Woodbridge, Editor of The Maritime Standard and Chairman of the Judging Panel, commented, “This year’s Awards were really competitive, and we received an all-time high number of entries across all categories. All the finalists demonstrated tremendous advances in operational standards and plenty of innovation over the past year, which underlines the ongoing strength of the regional maritime sector.”
A thorough judging process was conducted as part of the award selections, by an independent panel that included some of the most prominent names in the maritime industry. Trevor Pereira, Managing Director of The Maritime Standard, added, “These Awards were without doubt our best to date, with a host of well deserving companies and individuals picking up these coveted Awards. The range of achievements demonstrated once again the strength and vitality of the regional shipping and maritime scene.”

Nafeesa Moloobhoy, the Managing Director of the Moloobhoy Group of Companies, said: “I am honoured and humbled to receive this year’s Woman in Shipping Award from Maritime Standard at their glittering function at the Atlantis in Dubai. This recognition of my contribution to the marine industry, which is very male dominated, makes the whole journey of 26 long years’ worth it!”
Capt. Yousuf Alsager, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Fleet Operations at Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), who received the Editor’s Choice Award, commented: “The Maritime Standard has a tremendous reputation within our industry. So, it was indeed an honour to be presented with this Award.”
